This year, BKT Kosovo has supported “Lifeline,” the first suicide prevention hotline in Kosovo.

“Lifeline” is the first telephone center for suicide prevention in Kosovo, which, since its establishment in November 2019, has provided free emergency services to anyone in need.

In addition to volunteers, “Lifeline” also has supervisors during operating hours. The primary responsibility of the supervisors is to provide support and advice during and after calls to the volunteers who are speaking with callers.

During calls, volunteers focus on de-escalation and providing emotional support so that each caller can receive short-term help, allowing them to assess their situation rationally. Additionally, at the end of the call, volunteers refer callers to trusted psychotherapists and psychiatrists to receive long-term assistance.
